How to date someone with aspergers syndrome?
According to wikipedia,
Or dating an Aspie is individual to the experience of the two involved. Don't be so quick to judge how 'horrible' it must be to date us. Just as all NT's have negatives and positives, so do aspies. Many many positives in fact.
Consider mindfulness of words before typing ridiculous comments such as these.
Actually for all those saying that dating someone with aspergers must be bad or brutal or any of that. Your wrong. I have fallen in love with a girl I might when I was in highschool. I was a senior she was a freshman. We became good friends. Recently we started dating. And all I can say is yeah the relationship was a little bumpy at first but after learning. Our relationship is stronger than any other I have been in. I love her with every fiber of my being. And I plan on marrying her some day.
I'm having a very hard time in my relationship right now. My ...I honestly don't know if we're together or not anymore...he wasn't clear. Anyways, he has AS. We've been dating on and off for over 10 years now. I'm very much in love with him. I've been reading so much about AS so that I can understand him better and sometimes I forget. Sometimes he'll say something or do something that seems hurtful, like sitting on the computer (he's really into them) all day while I sit on the bed and wait for him to come spend time with me.
He lives in Scotland, I'm in USA. We met online a very long time ago and have been seeing eachother since. We broke up once before in 2010 and I never really understood why. I was very hurt because it was so sudden and I thought we were fine. Only sign I saw was that he was getting more and more quiet. I vanished. I blocked him online, changed my info. He found me a couple years later somehow and told me that he missed me a lot and that he made a huge mistake.
I made him promise me to talk to me about what he is feeling, if he's confused about something, or anything really, I never want to be surprised like that again because honestly I've never been more hurt.
Well...same thing happened. I just got home from seeing him and he sends me a text stating that this time felt different and he's not sure why he feels that way. A lot was going on, his sister was getting married and there were dozens of people over all of the time to set up and party. I knew it bothered him that all those people were around. When we were alone he seemed okay, we cuddled and talked and had romantic moments.
I don't know what went wrong, I don't know if I did something or not. I'm really wondering if he was just upset about all of those people around, the setup and parties went on for the entire month of July.
I'm lost. There's only one person I've been in love with and dreamt about being with forever and it's him. I know he loves me, there's no way he would chase after me for 10 years if he didn't. I just don't know what to do.

Here are the testimonials and some short story of someone who dated with Asperger.
"I used to date a girl called Gwendoline back in 2008. She was the first ever person to point me about my Aspergers condition. She told me how people with Aspergers are; to be honest, it wasn´t a revelation, then she just touched my arm and tried to comfort me. She was nice and not judging. I really try my best to overcome this everyday, along with some insecurity problems in my neighborhood and school (thieves and jerks). I enjoyed this article, indeed. Peace :)"
"Aspie dating an aspie and our relationship is beyond healthy. Although I do agree with a lot of what the poster has written, number 7 is a bit off. We don’t learn romance. We already know it. We just don’t always express it nor talk all sweet even though deep inside we love eachother more than anything else and are aware. On some ocassions we do very romantic things. By the way @ poster, you remind me a bit of my N/T ex boyfriends. Despite them acting so happy with me, the relationship ended (most of the time, they ended it). I brushed right passed it and they still wanted to be friends. Ps- every single one of them eventually came crawling back, lol."
"Currently in an online relationship with an aspie woman for about 6 months now and I am very much in love. Luckily I was aware of people with AS early on and done a bit of research but never in my wildest dreams that I would end up being involved romantically with an aspie. Not that I would never date one obviously but you get the picture. But we started off as friends, share some of the same interests and it turned into us dating after six months of knowing each other. The fact that she’s bold, kind, creative, a bit out there despite her difference, and she makes me smile more than usual are the things that make me don’t care about her AS entirely. Sure she has her insecurities but I made it a point to be there for her and make her feel like the most beautiful woman that she is. I’m not the most handsomest man in the world but I feel so damn lucky that she even likes me. I really want to meet her in person but I will wait for as long it takes for her to be ready for it. It’ll be worth the wait."

According to wikipedia,
Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's, is a developmental disorder characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, along with restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.[1] As a milder autism spectrum disorder (ASD), it differs from other ASDs by relatively normal language and intelligence.[4] Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and unusual use of language are common.[5][6] Signs usually begin before two years old and typically last for a person's entire life.
