ASEAN CHESS PHILIPPINES bring home 65 medals




The Philippine group has taken dwelling a total of 65 medals following its thriving stint in the latest 14th ASEAN+ Age-Group Chess Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The team assembled 24 gold medals, 28 shiny medals and 13 bronze medals, a assessed improvement from last year's 12-36-9 gold-silver-bronze haul in Vietnam.
"We broke the preceding record of 57 medals last year with only 12 gold medals in three events in Vietnam," said Bayan Muna party-list agent Neri Javier Colmenares, Vice President of the nationwide Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).


“We furthermore produced four FIDE chess experts at isa din sa youngest FIDE expert sa buong mundo na si Alekhine [Nouri]," he supplemented.

Together with Nouri, other players who protected FIDE expert were Allaney Jia G. Doroy, Samantha Glo Revita and Shania Mae Mendoza.

Vietnam covered the happening with 141 medals (71 gold, 31 silver, 39 bronze), pursued by the Philippines.

Singapore came in third with 34 medals (10 gold, 9 shiny and, 15 bronze).

The Philippine team made a courtesy visit to Philippine Sports charge (PSC) head person Ricardo Garcia and PSC Commissioner Gillian Akiko Thomson-Guevarra on Monday.

The players were escorted by Colmenares and NCFP boss Director GM Jayson Gonzales.
