IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander earned a convincing victory over Lee Purdy at Boardwalk Hall on Saturday night in a non-title bout. Purdy's corner stopped the fight in the seventh round during their IBF Welterweight Title fight at Boardwalk Hall Arena on May 18, 2013 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Referee David Fields stopped the fight on the advice of Purdy's corner at the end of the seventh round. IBF welterweight titleholder Devon Alexander (24-1) will enter his first fight as the IBF welterweight champion against Lee Purdy (16-3-1) as an overwhelming favorite. After all, Purdy wasn't even expected to be challenging Alexander. Alexander (25-1, 14 KOs), from St. Louis, was supposed to be making his first defense of his title, but Purdy (20-4-1, 13 KOs) failed to make the 147-pound weight limit. It was convincing enough that Devon Alexander dominated the entire rounds after rounds of boxing until round 7 where the coner of Lee Purdy stops the fight and Alexander awarded as the winner of the fight.
