H O M EAfter watching the full video replay highlights for Rios vs Alvardo 2, as it happened, Mike Alvardo defeated Brandon Rios in a back and forth battle via Unanimous Decision last March 30, 2013 to capture the interim WBO light welterweight title. Alvardo has the clear edge against Rios that night and Alvarado learned from their first encounter where he suffered his first loss via 7th round TKO. But on this fight, Alvarado adjusted a lot, head movement, foot work, clinch, and having a distant fight on which Rios didn't expect couldn't find enough pace to double the loss for Alvarado. Eventually, Mike Alvarado deserved the win for that title against Rios in one of the much anticipated and exciting fight for this year. I believe, there would be a 3rd fight for Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado in a higher offer.

In the opening round, there were some dramatics happened, even though Alvarado was badly hurt in round 2 but he managed to put himself toe to toe for Rios. Then Mike came back strong in round 3 that made Rios staggered for a few moment. In some other round, It was even a close back and forth battle, but in the later rounds of the fight, it was Alvarado pulling some scores by some head by his effort and technique.
It was a kind of a sweet and beautiful match and we were very proud for Mike Alvarado for his effort to even the match result after their 1st and second encounter. It was a great fight and a great war between the two boxer of this era. For Rios and Alvarado, it was such a great and impressive fight that they had display how boxing known as a "sweet science" because it was really a sweet display in the art of boxing.

It was a clear unanimous decision win for Mike as he was stepping in for this rematch against Brandon. As it was a close unanimous decision and that the judges scorecards were 115-113, 115-113, 114-113 all went for Mike Alvarado. For Rios, he was a real gentleman as he humbly accepts his 1st defeat and a career loss at the hands of Mike. Alvarado improved his boxing record to 34 wins and only a loss while Rios boxing record move down to 31 wins and a loss. But the result are good tonight. We will hope for the 3rd fight and there's a possibility to raise the fight in a much bigger fight promotion.
