Top 10 Filipino Chess Grandmasters with the ratings who are active players as of March 2013. Based on my researched, I was surprised that the Philippines has ever produced the 16 chess grandmasters of all time in the historic Philippines' world of chess. They are the current grandmasters in chess scene here in Philippines and I'm sure that there are still Pinoy chess players on their way to grandmaster title that can be added to the number of GM's here in our country.
Our number 1 top player of all time no other than as our new super GM Wesley So has just recently breaks the 2700 elo rating barrier and for the first time and a milestone for the a Filipino chess player like GM Wesley to ever achieve the 2700's at the age of 19. You could imagine that GM Wesley So is ranked No. 1 in the Philippines, No. 2 among juniors and No. 50 in the world after a great performance in the Reykjavik Open 2013: 19th – 27th February 2013 in Iceland where he shared the 1st to 3rd places. Congratulations to GM Wesley SO for achieving that limelight. More Filipino chess grandmasters to come!
